Congrats Adam! So here’s what I think about each night when I visit my 93 year old friend at the adult care facility she is in…. It goes like this: I enter the dining hall (it’s very nice), linen covered tables, perhaps as many as 16 tables, each with 4 ~ 8 seniors seated in their places, name cards ahead of them. Elevator music in the background, occasional Bing Crosby, Sinatra or Lena Horne. Each tables conversation starts the same….. “why are we always served last, the food’s cold, mine tastes good but it’s cold. Is your cold? And so the conversation, sparse as it is, goes on…. each echoing the other, none listening. (I giggle to myself…. there is humor there) But there’s so much more. As I return, night after night, I glimpse tiny pieces of their lives. She was an artist, he a professor, a nurse, a doctor, a Phd, a homemaker………. various interesting careers…. and war heroes, now challenged by opening their sugar packets and commanding their failing bodies to perform tasks that were once effortless. In these glimpses I can see a younger version of each. That gentleman over there with that twinkle not lost on the lady to his right, the foot tapping to the music, Then I close my eyes and see them….. when they were me (or younger)….. with families just starting out, new love, the “boys” cruising the streets, the girls watching their beaus come home from war, when they were vibrant, filled with dreams and ready to change the world. These are remarkable people…….. I wish I had the time to learn each life story ………………….. Perhaps you can put that to music somehow. Best of luck to you Adam, I now own 3 CD’s you’ve made…. hope to own many more!!

Heather,
Your post really made me think…I have a lot of stories, but it’s nothing compared to these people who have lived through so much more than me. There is a lot to learn from previous generations, and honestly a lot to learn from every person that you meet. Everyone has a story, something to share, and by talking to them you can really grow and open your mind.
Thank you for supporting me throughout the years and there will be more music coming soon!
I’d love to stop by the adult care facility one day…I hope we can make that happen.
